The Bible Series: Drawing Close To God : Genesis 14

“Breaking Free From Being A Coward”

In the Bible there are so many stories of wars and the triumphant victories that came through Jesus. What many people do not know is that Abram , along with David, was indeed a warrior… I mean it makes sense.. I think this is where David got his crazy from.

Anyways…

In our Christian walk The Book of Revelation says,

Revelation 21:7-8 New Living Translation (NLT)

7 All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.

8 “But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars—their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

So it is very apparent that as you draw close to God HE IS GOING to deliver you from being a coward. So here are some notes from the study of Genesis 14.

  • Point 1 : Genesis 14:1-8 NLT In this chapter we learn the circumstance of ABRAM before he goes out and fights for his nephew LOT. As I was doing this study and asking God what was the revelation behind this God said, “Do not be afraid of earthly kings.”

The Bible says in Daniel ,

16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. 18 But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”

The Blazing Furnace

19 Nebuchadnezzar was so furious with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego that his face became distorted with rage. He commanded that the furnace be heated seven times hotter than usual. 20 Then he ordered some of the strongest men of his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and throw them into the blazing furnace. 21 So they tied them up and threw them into the furnace, fully dressed in their pants, turbans, robes, and other garments. 22 And because the king, in his anger, had demanded such a hot fire in the furnace, the flames killed the soldiers as they threw the three men in. 23 So Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, securely tied, fell into the roaring flames.

24 But suddenly, Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in amazement and exclaimed to his advisers, “Didn’t we tie up three men and throw them into the furnace?”

“Yes, Your Majesty, we certainly did,” they replied.

25 “Look!” Nebuchadnezzar shouted. “I see four men, unbound, walking around in the fire unharmed! And the fourth looks like a god[a]!”

26 Then Nebuchadnezzar came as close as he could to the door of the flaming furnace and shouted: “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!”

So Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stepped out of the fire. 27 Then the high officers, officials, governors, and advisers crowded around them and saw that the fire had not touched them. Not a hair on their heads was singed, and their clothing was not scorched. They didn’t even smell of smoke!

28 Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise to the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego! He sent his angel to rescue his servants who trusted in him. They defied the king’s command and were willing to die rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.

Before a major promotion from GOD there will always be a major persecution and fire. It will ALWAYS happen. A lot of times people want the promotion but don’t want the fire… but the Bible says that to much is given much is required.

  • Point 2 : As you study the verses Genesis 14:15-16 you will see that God will allow something of value to be taken from you to awaken the WARRIOR in You. A lot of times we have experienced abusive situations that demoralize us, but it is a attack of the enemy to make you a coward. Through Jesus, God will restore you to the place of Peace and Christ Like strength (Philippians 4:13) through HIS name.
  • Point 3: What people fail to realize is that there is a blessing after the war. In Genesis 14 you see what Abram has to go through to gather LOT .. but in that same chapter you see Melchizedek bless Abram. In your hard times, as you press forward and draw close to God you have to trust HIM that your blessing is after the war. Trust Him according to HIS WORD.

Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

9 Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, 10 or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.

Let me make this clear. I am God’s Rahab… not Jezebel . His Rahab with a dash of Bathsheba .

So I’m in this season of my life and I’m like okay God, you’ve broken that independent I dont need no man … I’m a strong black woman spirit out of me. Where is my man ? It’s not like I can’t get one .. but I just want a man who is going to love me like Hosea… yet STILL be my David.

So I guess because my answer did not come WHEN I wanted, I decided I was going to start looking on my own because I KNOW my husband is a prophet like Hosea(Ezekiel 2:5).

Anyways….

I was at church and I saw a VERY SINGLE saved man of God preaching the infallible word and I mean HE PREACHED ! Every one was hype and He made it clear that He was single. Did a altar call and everything and I thought he looked at me (I could be crazy though) … But anyways .

After my DATES WITH JESUS time , I asked God “what about this man as my husband ” and clear as day God said “No. He is not your David.”

So I’m shocked like “wooooooowwwwww God.. let me do me … let me do me..”

But ofcourse God knows better than me. He warned me that man was secretly very lazy (which God knows I hate in a man) and He would never do what God tells him to do !

Now let me tell you something. I have disobeyed enough warnings from God to have my heart broken to know when God is speaking about someone. So I heeded. But then I asked him about another man who is a Pastor (pray for me)… and God said NO ! So at this point I’m hurt and I’m basically telling God he dont love me. And the thing is I’m not asking about the man to be a temptress… but I’m asking God like a Ruth. But anyways….

I wrote this to say if you’re a single woman waiting for your husband just wait and pray. Know that you’re not alone. If I could be honest I want a husband myself and I want a M.A.N like Peter. Not a coward but a real man. So I wrote this in faith , to encourage those who are waiting to be still ! Dont go buying him prophetic gifts ahead of time.. dont move ahead of God just be still and keep working your husband will come.

…. BUT AS FOR ME ! IF yall see my David tell him to hurry up ! I’m irritated lol have a good night .

This year, 2019 is coming into a CLOSE ! God has dealt with me that as we close this year He wants us to focus on HIM and begin with Him… Sometimes when we look at beginnings we assume that it has to be with money, cars, clothes, and fame.. but the BIBLE says in The Message,

Proverbs 20:21 The Message (MSG)

The Very Steps We Take

21 A bonanza at the beginning
    is no guarantee of blessing at the end.

So you may not be going into 2020 with a BMW or having your face in New York Times Square but keep going with GOD. Because even David and Joseph  had to start somewhere…. And DAVID was in waiting for decades.

Genesis 1:1 tells us  GOD created the heavens and the earth. As we draw close to GOD we see that we must KNOW who He is (Proverbs 9:10). As you begin to develop a relationship with God you have to acknowledge and reverence Him so that you may get prayer and life results.

But How Does This Draw Me Close To Him

Well lets look at these seven points:

  • Point 1: When God speaks into your life according to Genesis 1:2, sometimes its when we are formless and empty. Sometimes it’s when there is darkness from a bad relationship or at a time where WE need a supernatural deliverance. The Bible says in Mark,

17 And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

And He says in Matthew,

Matthew 21:31 English Standard Version (ESV)

31 Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes go into the kingdom of God before you.

  • Point 2: Because of this we know that because HE came to you while you were yet in sin, in darkness… God is showing that HE sees GOOD in you according to Genesis 1:3-5.

A lot of times when it comes to ministry, a relationship with God, and big time names we think that those people are the only ones who can talk to God… but there are some anonymous, nameless, and unknown hero’s in the BIBLE. There are even some books in The Bible that tells us that the Author is Unknown (See the NLT STUDY BIBLE). So we have to understand that our relationship with GOD and if we are going to inherit the Kingdom of God is based on US . Faith without works is dead.

  • Point 3: Genesis 1:10 shows us that man cannot dictate WHO or WHEN God calls. The Bible says in Proverbs 8,

Proverbs 8:17 English Standard Version (ESV)

17 I love those who love me,
    and those who seek me diligently find me.

…. This shows me that whoever LOVES God will receive what He has for them… but you have to focus on HIM and rely on HIM as he takes you through the process of being transformed and renewed in God.

  • Point 4 : Genesis 1:6-11 NLT discusses SPACE. When you begin to draw closer to GOD he will begin to create SPACE. In your life, he will purge out all those who are wicked and evil. He is going to teach you BOUNDARIES and HEALTHY CHRIST LIKE GOALS as you begin to move forward in this life. We are living in the last days … God does not want you living with the spirit of fear but in THE FEAR OF GOD (PROVEBRS 9:10).
  • Point 5:Genesis 1:7 When GOD is forming and making you into who HE has called you to be He is going to speak over you prophetically and sing over you. WHAT GOD has spoken over you MUST come to pass…it has to. It MUST. And whether they receive it or not they will know that a prophet has been among them.

5 And whether they listen or refuse to listen—for remember, they are rebels—at least they will know they have had a prophet among them.

  • Point 6: Genesis 1:9-12 says “the land produced vegetation.”  When God produces something it is formed for a purpose. As you draw close to God, He is going to begin to form you into your purpose. Whether it is to be a TEACHER to be a intercessor for children… Whether it is to be a Gym Teacher to be a GOD sent intercessor for children against bullying. Or whether it is to be a  Counselor to lead children to CHRIST and to pray… Whatever your purpose is on this earth… when YOU draw close to God his purpose in you MUST be fulfilled and revealed.
  • Point 7: Throughout Genesis 1 one of the secrets or mysteries is that we have to learn how to WAIT. Not to long ago God told me, “It is better to wait than for it not to happen at all.”  During the process and with God you have to wait and allow God to finish His GOOD work in YOU, He is going to perfect that which concerns you according to The WORD OF GOD.

So today as the LORD moves in your life and you begin to move on into the next year… Be focused on GOD and be determined to read the entire BIBLE, the back of the BIBLE has yearly BIBLE study plans… Genesis 1 will draw you closer to GOD and push you into the secret place so that GOD will form your purpose.

Good Steward

What Do You Think Of ?

When you hear good steward what is the first thing you think of ? Is it money. For most people it is. You automatically think of that $20 in your pocket that you’re trying to save because you want to make God happy… but what does The Bible say ?

Money Does Not Mean The FAVOR of God

When Joseph’s brother threw him into the pit , sold him into slavery … what did they have that Joseph didnt ? Money. When Judas betrayed JESUS and JESUS STILL rose in three days .. what did Jesus have that Judas could never have ? That was the LOVE and Supernatural FAVOR of GOD !

And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”

Be careful When You See People Going Through Hard Times

When Joseph was in prison he was a good steward over the gifts and talents GOD had given him. He was obedient. Money did not get Joseph out of prison. It was God.. and it took two years from the time of his intrepation of dreams to the manifestation of the promise . This is why it is so important to be obedient NOW , because years later it matters.

One of my favorite mysteries in The Bible is Enoch. As I was reading about Him in GENESIS something caught my attention.

When Enoch was 65 years old, he became the father of Methuselah. After the birth of Methuselah, Enoch lived in close fellowship with God for another 300 years, and he had other sons and daughters. Enoch lived 365 years, walking in close fellowship with God. Then one day he disappeared, because God took him.

What God revealed to me is that Enoch was 365 years old when God took him, and that was his destiny. Enoch had to be a good steward over his walk with God. He had to have self- control, fruit of the spirit, and a understanding that his time (365 years) here on earth MATTERS !

So instead of today being soooooo worried about money understand that you have no idea what can happen tomorrow. You don’t know if your job is going to fire you. You don’t know if the government is going to shut down. You dont know if your friend is going to betray you and kick you out of their home and you dont know if you will have the “money” during those times. The only thing that can deliver you through certain situations is your FELLOWSHIP with God.

Also, becareful how you treat people because in Two years you have NO idea who or what they are going to be.. and you have NO idea who or what you are going to be. Riches fly away so quickly, this is why The Bible says you cannot serve both God and mammon… you will hate one or love the other.

The Wilderness

What Happens When Your Obedience Leads You Into The Wilderness

One of the hardest things about being a prophet of God is learning how to deal with the prophetic, your pain from abuse, current betrayals, and completely feeling like God has left you…. while somehow trying to understand and grasp how to love God after being sexually abused. And by people who were in the church or someone who was in your family…

The last days prophets have it pretty bad… because you deal with the cruelty of people. You deal with opening your heart about your abuse … and we are dealing with the pain of sexual abuse…. sometimes you even cry infront of people.. And for some reason people are so blinded by jealousy that they could care less.

Now some people would want to fight me about this… But I just want to show you what they did to my savior Jesus.

While King was carrying the cross … they spat on him. He literally was beaten, mocked…. crowned with a crown of thorns… and then spat on.

30 Then they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head. 31 And when they had mocked Him, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him away to be crucified.

In The Passion Translation, in the book of Psalm… David gives a prophetic insight of Jesus Christ being crucified… So we literally live what it means to pick up our cross to follow Jesus.

I believe that God is raising a generation of authentic apostles and prophets… because this crushing is so severe. The warfare that the real apostles and prophets fight and wrestle with is so difficult because we are literally learning straight from God. We are learning how to be apostles and prophets through God… and there is a certain level of pain… that comes with it. There is a certain level of isolation, betrayal, abandonment, and persecution.

But I pray that God would give the apostles and prophets healthy families … so that when they go home.. they can escape the terrible pain of ministry, betrayal, and hurt. I charge you in this hour becareful who you call your friends.. and becareful with women. For the BIBLE says

Proverbs 31:3 New King James Version (NKJV)

3 Do not give your strength to women,
Nor your ways to that which destroys kings.

I hope and pray

That we begin to see that prophets are humans…. but yet the Bible already told us what people would do.

The Stoning of Stephen

54 When the members of the Sanhedrin heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him. 55 But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56 “Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”

57 At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him, 58 dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their coats at the feet of a young man named Saul.

59 While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” 60 Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” When he had said this, he fell asleep.

Personal Experience

I recently have been dealing with sleep. Sometimes you just have to sleep. I didn’t say love it… but sometimes its the only thing that you can do. If you struggle with imagination (as most prophets do) and wrestle with insanity or fantasy… play the Bible App while you are sleeping and it will give your mind peace. I like listening to the Song of Solomon… but I would think that men would like The Chronicles.

To the Apostles and the prophets just enjoy your sleep. I have never seen this type of warfare and I recently had a dream of the death angel coming. Like the plagues of Pharaoh. Based off of how evil people are… we are in the last days. I’m going to be honest. I am terrible.. I pray for grace everyday to make the rapture of Jesus Christ or some call it the gathering. I hope I do its the truth. We are in the last days.

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

….

When I was growing up I heard about this… but I didn’t believe it because I grew up seeing the opposite of what was preached at church.. So I know about the earthquakes and the other great signs… but when the BIBLE says .. “the love of many will grow cold.” When are in the last days.

A Woman Who Fears The Lord

When you look in the Book of Exodus you encounter many divine deliverance’s from God. Immediately in the beginning of Exodus, you are introduced to the History of the children of Israel and what there current situation is.

Your job matters

I think the medical ministry is beautiful because God can use you at the right place and the right time. How beautiful is it, to be a Christian in medicine …

Exodus 1:15-16 New Living Translation (NLT)

15 Then Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, gave this order to the Hebrew midwives, Shiphrah and Puah: 16 “When you help the Hebrew women as they give birth, watch as they deliver.[a] If the baby is a boy, kill him; if it is a girl, let her live.”

In this passage the two midwives feared God and obeyed their beliefs. Because they obeyed God, God honored them and gave them their own families (Exodus 1:20 NLT). So today or when the situation arises… and someone doesn’t know if they are going to keep their child or faced with the idea of abortion, remember this verse .

Exodus 1:17 New Living Translation (NLT)

17 But because the midwives feared God, they refused to obey the king’s orders. They allowed the boys to live, too.

God is going to honor you for being obedient. Children are a reward. And as we begin to move forward we need to step up, stop taking plan B, control ourselves, and flee sexual immorality. Not only that, as Christians we say NO TO ABORTIONS! And Plan B is included in this.

So if you know someone who has children or is preparing for motherhood… why don’t you be kind? Buy some pampers, order some things on Amazon for them… Help them get formula.. Be kind and show the love of God because He is watching you… and if you please King, He will reward you.

Father I pray,

That we as Christians will become bold. I pray that we will not get abortions and we will stop Plan B… I pray that we don’t abuse our children and according to Malachi 3: 17-18 NLT we love our  children ..I pray there is a difference and the people may see that we serve Jehovah. Amen
