The Jesus Letter: God Does Understand You
Beauty should never be your source of fulfillment. Proverbs 31 tells us that beauty does fade. God should be the source and the joy of your life. Today, claim that your joy is in God and nothing else. Do not let magazines try to tell you what their form of beauty is. Let God assert his will and desire in your appearance.
Father, help me to see my value in you Jesus Christ. Amen.
For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize and understand our weaknesses and temptations, but One who has been tempted [knowing exactly how it feels to be human] in every respect as we are, yet without [committing any] sin.
Apostle Diamond S. Chessier
Proverbs 25:21New King James Version
21 If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat;
And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink;
The words of King Lemuel, an oracle that his mother taught him: O my son, O son of my womb, O son of my vows, do not give your vigor to women, or your ways to what ruins kings. It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, or for rulers to crave strong drink, lest they drink, forget what is decreed, and pervert justice for all the oppressed. Give strong drink to one who is dying, and wine to those who are bitterly distressed— let him drink, forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more. Open your mouth on behalf of those unable to speak, for the justice of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, plead the cause of the poor and needy. An accomplished woman who can find? Her value is far beyond rubies. Her husband’s heart trusts in her, and he lacks nothing valuable. She brings him good and not harm all the days of her life. She selects wool and flax and her hands work willingly. She is like merchant ships, bringing her sustenance from afar. She rises while it is still night and provides food for her household and portions for her servant girls. She considers a field and buys it. From the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard. She girds herself with strength and invigorates her arms. She discerns that her business is good. Her lamp never goes out at night. She extends her hands to the spindle and her palm grasps the spinning wheel. She spreads out her palms to the poor, and extends her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of snow for her house, for her whole household is clothed in scarlet wool. She makes her own luxurious coverings. Her clothing is fine linen and purple. Her husband is respected at the city gates, when he sits among the elders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them and supplies sashes to the merchants. Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the days to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom— a lesson of kindness is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and bless her, her husband also praises her: “Many daughters have excelled, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears ADONAI will be praised. Give her the fruit of her hands. Let her deeds be her praise at the gates.
- Proverbs 31:1-31 TLV
After this, I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earthso that no wind would blow on the earth or on the sea or against any tree. Then I saw another angel coming up from the east,having the seal of the living God. He cried out with a loud voice to the four angels who were permitted to harm the earth and the sea, saying, “Do no harm to the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.” Now I heard the number of those marked with the seal: 144,000 from every tribe of Bnei-Yisrael— 12,000 from the tribe of Judah; 12,000 from the tribe of Reuben; 12,000 from the tribe of Gad; 12,000 from the tribe of Asher; 12,000 from the tribe of Naphtali; 12,000 from the tribe of Manasseh; 12,000 from the tribe of Simeon; 12,000 from the tribe of Levi; 12,000 from the tribe of Issachar; 12,000 from the tribe of Zebulun; 12,000 from the tribe of Joseph; 12,000 from the tribe of Benjamin. After these things I looked, and behold, a vast multitude that no one could count—from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues—was standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes, with palm branchesin their hands and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” And all the angels were standing around the throne, along with the elders and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying, “Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might belong to our God forever and ever. Amen!” Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these dressed in white robes, and where have they come from?” I said to him, “Sir, you know.” Then he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation.They have washed their robes and made them whitein the blood of the Lamb. For this reason, they are before the throne of God, and they serve Him day and night in His Temple. The One seated on the throne will shelter them. They shall never again go hungry, nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not beat down on them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb in the midst of the throne shall shepherd them and guide them to springs of living water, and God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
- Revelation 7:1-17 TLV
Dishonest scales are an abomination to ADONAI, but an accurate weight is His delight. When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom. The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous will destroy them. Riches make no profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. The righteousness of the blameless man makes his way straight, but the wicked man is brought down by his wickedness. The righteousness of the upright delivers them, but the treacherous are trapped by their desire. When the wicked dies, his hope perishes, and the hope of the strong vanishes. The righteous is rescued from trouble. Instead it comes on the wicked. With his mouth the ungodly destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous will be delivered. When the righteous do well, a city rejoices. When the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy. Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed. One who despises his neighbor lacks sense, but one with discernment remains silent. A gossip reveals secrets, but one who is trustworthy conceals a matter. Without guidance people fall, with many counselors there is deliverance. Whoever puts up security for a stranger will have trouble, but whoever avoids shaking hands on such a deal is secure. A gracious woman gains honor, but ruthless men seize riches. A kind man does his own soul good, but a cruel man harms his own flesh. The wicked earn deceptive wages, but a sower of righteousness reaps a true reward. Steadfast righteousness leads to life, but pursuing evil ends in death. Perverse hearts are an abomination to ADONAI. His favor is on those blameless in their ways. Be sure, the evil will not go unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will be delivered. Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman who lacks discretion. The desire of the righteous is only good, but the hope of the wicked only wrath. One gives freely, yet gains even more. Another withholds unjustly, and comes to poverty. A soul who blesses will prosper, and one who gives water will himself be satisfied. People curse anyone withholding grain, but blessing is on the head of one who dispenses it. A person who diligently seeks good finds favor, but to one who searches for evil, evil comes to him! Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf. Whoever troubles his own household will inherit wind, and the fool will be a servant to the wise-hearted. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and whoever wins souls is wise. If the righteous is rewarded on earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner!
